Five Cookie Reads of 2011

I was delighted to have thirteen five cookies reviews this year. That's some good reading. I had a bunch of four cookie reviews and a few three cookies, but I don't think I had any two cookies! What a wonderful year of reading. Here are my 13 five cookie books (links take you to my review of the book):
I adored Entwined by Heather Dixon a retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses. This is probably my favorite cover of 2011, for sure my favorite cover of my favorite books!

Sean Griswold's Head by Lindsay Leavitt was a quick, fun read. A contemporary romance that I loved!

As I read the third Penderwicks book I wasn't sure I would end up loving it nearly as much as the others. No fear! The Penderwicks at Point Mouette by Jeanne Birdsall was just as wonderful as it's predecessors.

I adored The Big Splash by Jack D. Ferraiolo and was super excited about this superhero book he wrote, Sidekicks. It was every bit as good as his first book. Lots of humor!

I have heard for years about how funny Harris and Me by Gary Paulsen is, so I decided to read it this past summer. Better late than never! It was super funny!

I am so glad that the sequel to Hex Hall, Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins, was as good, if not better than the first in the series. Can't wait for book #3!

I discovered Jenny Han's summer series right before the third book, We'll Always Have Summer, was published. I loved this series! Every one of the books made me cry. (Here's my review for The Summer I Turned Pretty).

I recently read Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins. I quickly fell in love with the characters and the themes in the book. Really good stuff!

For sure the scariest book I read this year was Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake. I cannot wait for book #2!

The Wizard of Dark Street by Shawn Thomas Odyssey was another fun middle grade read. Fun book I read this summer. Great new character in Oona Crate.

Oh Jonathan Maberry, you never fail to amaze me. Dust & Decay was such a powerful book. I cried & cried. I cannot wait to get back into Benny's world with book #3!

I loved Anne Ursu's Breadcrumbs. What a well written book! Pick up this modern day fairy soon!

  2. I looooove Jenny Han. I never thought anyone could compare with Sarah Dessen in the world of YA chick lit, but Jenny Han is just a queen. I wish there were more summer books!
