I love coming back to school. I love, love, love when a new kid comes into their library and look around at all the books and computers in awe. It's not that we are super big, but we have two hand me down computer labs and a lot of books and most of them come from small rural schools where they don't have quite the size of library we have. It's always pretty gratifying though.
This morning I had one of my favorites from the past few years (he is one who has emailed me pictures of himself reading during the weekend)(he comes in every single morning to either talk about books or check out books--he's darling) come in to check out The Fault in Our Stars. Here's our conversation:
Me: John Green, good choice.
Him: You know John Green?
Me: Yes, I know John Green.
Him: (blathers on about various things) then: They are making this into a movie.
Me: Yes, I know.
Him: You know?! How do you know?
Me: I keep up on these things.
Him: Well, John Green and his brother have a youtube channel where they vlog and his brother sings songs and I want you to see one.
Him: After directing me to the video (which you can see here). It's about Harry Potter. Have you read the Harry Potters?
At this point, I just look at him and say: Keegan, it's like you don't know me at all!
Him: Well I am sorry, you are a grown up!!
It was so funny, I have giggled about it all day.
