I have been messing around with my template for a few months now and just hadn't created anything I really liked. Over this Christmas break I decided to give it another go. I do all this on my own and while I have flirted with the idea of buying a custom layout from a designer I am just too cheap to do that because I really thought I could make elements on my own. So I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.
I spent a bit of time looking at layouts that I liked and one thing I realized I liked was the "cleanness" of most of the blogs, so I made my background white.
I also decided that even though the title is "Milk & Cookies" I don't have to actually have cookies on there. I did keep with the color scheme though--tan and dark brown. I like how it all looks together, white with tan and dark brown, kind of like cookies and milk!
I used PicMonkey for my side elements and header and image-maps.com for the social connections element.
However, the most valuable thing I found were these blogging and picmonkey tutorials from Something Swanky.
I have to say that I LOVE my new design. I hope you enjoy it too! And thanks for stopping by!
I like it. Alot actually. Its pretty and fun. GREAT colors. I just want to sneak an itty bitty cookie in. Like maybe as a dot in the i's.
ReplyDeleteI need to be a web designer in my next life.
FAB job.
I love how clean it looks, especially the white background. I know the cursive font with block font is pretty trendy right now, but I still like it!!
