What the Kids Are Reading

I always love to watch the trends in my library.  In the years I have been a librarian I have seen series come and go and come back again.  I love the changes I see every year.  I can always count on the Warriors series being popular, very, very popular.  But I always love it when a series gets popular with a group of kids and they all read every book.  Lately these two series have been really popular:

I have had groups of 6th grade girls going through these series super quickly.  It's been so cool to watch!

Have you read these series?

  2. I loved Matched and Crossed, but haven't gotten my hands on Reached yet. And I read Uglies ages ago when it first came out and didn't care for it at all, but So Many readers have gotten obsessed with the series, I've started thinking about giving it another shot...

    1. I love the idea of Uglies but I just haven't taken the time to read it. I am kind of burnt out on dystopian. I hear great things about Matched though!

  3. Love hearing what kids are reading. Thanks so much for sharing. My daughter and her friends really liked the Uglies series and she likes the first two books in the Reached series. We have book 3 but the problem is with high school is there's no time for pleasure reading with all the homework.

  4. I've read both series. Uglies series when I was a freshman in high school and Matched... maybe a Senior or Junior. I've only read the first book though and must get my hands on Crossed one of these days. I loved the Warrior series when I was in elementary. The Zack Files were also a favorite of mine at that age. 6th grade! Wow. I see now how much I really didn't read before. I would have read them a lot of books a long time ago.
