2013 Reading Challenges

I am going to set a few of my own challenges this year.

First of all I am setting a goal of reading 100 books.  2012 was the first year in the past four that I did not read over 100 books and I am sorely disappointed in myself.  Well, not that disappointed, but I am going to get that 100 again this year!

I am going to re-read 5 books.  I have so many books in my library collection that I want to read, let alone books on my nook and ARCs that I feel  I don't have time to re-read some old favorites.  This year I am going to re-read 5 of my favorite books.

I am going to read 6 books from my Goodreads to-read list.  Here's the thing about my to-read list:  I don't add a lot of current or future books on there, I have a spreadsheet to keep track of future releases that I want to read.  I was looking at my to-read list the other day and decided I need to read a few of those!

I am going to read 7 retro books.  By a retro book I mean a book that was published 10+ years ago and that I missed reading when I was younger.  There are quite a few I have been meaning to read and am finally going to get around to reading them this year!

So, those are my goals.  What about you?  What are you challenging yourself to read this year?

  1. I look forward to hearing about these in 2013 - especially the retro books. What a fun goal! I keep telling myself I'm going to fit in a classic for every other paranormal-fiction I read.

  2. How fun! Those are some great goals! :)

I'm actually hosting a re-reading challenge this year, and there's a level for re-reading 5 books, if you'd care to join up! :) I totally understand if you'd rather not - sometimes it's nicer and less stressful to do your own thing. I just thought I'd let you know in case you might be interested!

    Happy reading - and re-reading - in 2013!

  3. I just did my own recap for the year. I plan to read all the books beside my bed as I'm tired of seeing them there gathering dust. 100 is my goal as well. Happy 2013.

    1. I stack them beside my bed, then I move them to a shelf when I get tired of failing the stack. The eventually creep back over to beside my bed though!
