My Son: Library Aide

The very best thing about where I work is that my oldest son goes to the school there. He is an 8th grader and is not at all embarrassed by the fact that I am also at his school. He wanted to be a library aide so we let him be for this trimester.

This is my son who is a very reluctant reader. And reluctant is the right word for him.

Anyway, the other night we were talking authors for some reason and he started rattling off authors left and right. He is such a good shelver and I thought, maybe there is some hope for him after all.

THEN, the PE teacher from yesterday's post came up to bring me back my copy of The Hunger Games and as we are chatting, my darling son announces from across the library that "he doesn't like reading."

Dagger to my heart.

  1. Glad I'm not the only one whose kids do that!

  2. haha aw, you just tell him fine, that means more books for you that you won't have to worry about having to share with him. I had a reluctant reader who suddenly became not so reluctant when I started saying certain books were off limits to him :) (Oh, no, that book has WAY too much killing and zombie violence in it...not for you!)

  3. Small-That is a great idea! I am not sure my son will go for it, but I know several students who would!
