Ah, The Penderwicks. If you have read my blog for any length of time you know that my love for the Penderwicks has been well documented. Here's why:
These books gave me faith in middle grade literature again. I read the first one before I had really started blogging or exclusively reading MG/YA books like I do now. I read the first one and was transported back to my childhood when reading was innocent still.
Now, when I say this understand that I am not against the edginess of YA/MG books at all. I love some of the darker ones a lot. But, sometimes you want innocence and light and feel good and there are hardly any books that make me feel better than the Penderwicks books.
And, when I have a young female reader who is looking for something to read I hand her one of these and she comes back for the next one and the next. My goal is to get these in as many hands as possible!
If you haven't read them, please do. You will not be sorry!!

I know you love these. I haven't read them yet, but you never fail to make me want to! :-)
ReplyDeleteI read the first one this summer and loved it. I just need to make time to read the others.
