Armchair BEA: Who Am I?

Welcome all to my blog this week. I am hoping that I get to get out and find some new blogs and that some new people find their way to me!

I am a MG/YA blogger, any genre (except animal stories, for some reason I can never get into those!). I do both MG and YA because I am a middle school librarian, pretty much the greatest job ever. I have sixth graders coming in still wanting young books and then I have eighth graders just about ready for high school who totally want older books. I get to buy lots of them and find the time to read most of them. Sometimes I even have a hard time letting kids check them out (I kid, I kid).

Someday, some year I will get to BEA (or ALA) but this year I saved all my personal days so I could go with my son on his Montana history trip. Should be lots of fun. I am not sure I need anymore Montana history (I was born and raised here). But for now I get to Armchair BEA, which is fine with me. I think my favorite part about Armchair BEA is the fact that each day I have a topic to blog about!

I that everyone has a great week, whether it is at the actual BEA or if you are Armchairing it! Meet you soon!

Hi! This is my first year for Armchair BEA and I'm really enjoying checking out different blogs. I write for the middle grade/tween age so I'm very glad to meet you.

Your audio progam sounds interesting. My daughter and I listen to lots of audio books in the car and it's a great way for us to share books. I write for the middle grade/tween age so I'm very glad to meet you.

  3. Well, there's always next year - I'm sure your son is growing faster and I know you wouldn't want to blink and miss it.

Sounds like a great opportunity to do some Letterboxing!

  5. Loved this intro -- I had to grin. I'm an Air Force brat and while I was in late middle school, we were stationed out in South Dakota. The base library wasn't much, but the children's/YA section had a stellar, outstanding librarian who got some of the riskiest, daring, and most life-changing books I've ever read. In a place that was rather homogenous racially and politically, it was a breath of fresh air -- and I'm sad I never had a chance to thank the librarian who created a place for me that was such a sanctuary for one curious, confused preteen.

All this is to say I so appreciate your obvious joy about your job, and to cheer you on! :) I look forward to your other Armchair BEA posts!

  8. My cryptid friends and I aren’t doing any special posts this week for Armchair BEA, but we’re enjoying checking out the blogs of those who are. Thanks for sharing. Here’s to milk and cookies, with a donut or two on the side.

  10. With a 12 yo and a 9 yo, I know all about trying to find the right MG/YA books. It's such a hard task! The 9 yo wants to read YA, the 12 yo wants to read adult books - what to do??

Anyway, glad to have found you via Armchair BEA!

  11. I'm currently in library school and would love to work with children once I'm done.

Unless I'm ill or traveling (and don't have access to the internet), I post a review each and every day. Come learn more about me and my blog.
