Nook vs. Print: My thoughts:
I have a Nook and have had one for about a month. I truly enjoy having it and have read quite a few books on it already.
(side note: I love the people who say to me, "Oh, I could never give up my books, I just love the feel of a book," like I don't get that, I am a librarian for crying out loud! I LOVE books. I just tell them that for me, it's not an either or, I use BOTH formats).
Here's what I have found I really enjoy about my Nook. It is easier to use when I am walking on my treadmill. I used to get so frustrated with reading a book because it never laid flat and I would have to lean forward and hold the book down, then raise it up out of the page guard to turn the pages. What a hassle!
I like listening to audio books while I walked, but unless the book was super engrossing I found myself watching the time to much.
Using the Nook while I am walking is great because I don't have the whole pesky turning pages problem and because my eyes are otherwise engaged I don't sit and watch the clock! It is awesome.
So, I love my Nook, I love print books and I love audio books. Because, the more reading I can get in, whatever the format, the happier I am! And I know you all agree, because you are all readers like me!
"Hear, hear!" Well said, Jana, and I couldn't agree more. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't have a Nook or a Kindle but this reason makes complete sense. Any activity you can do while reading is a win-win situation. Now if I could just convince my husband of that...hmm.
ReplyDeleteThe more I see of the nook, the more intrigued I am by it. Now that I'm into boring week 3 of my new year's resolutions, your treadmill argument is pretty persuasive...
