Before we get to Max's review of Dragonbreath: Curse of the Were-Weiner I want to direct you to this awesome site by Penguin Books: Books4Boys. There are wonderful suggestions and a book giveaway every month. I won this book in September and gave it to Max to read because it looked right up his alley. We read this one (the third in the series), bought the second one (Dragonbreath: Attack of the Ninja Frogs) and checked out the first one. He loved them all!
Here we go!
5 yummy chocolate chip cookies (they are my favorite).
Cover Love: I like the cover a lot because it makes the book look funny by showing a hot dog with a mouth.
Why Max Wanted To Read The Book: Because my mom got it in the mail, one day and it just looked really interesting and funny. Here's the synopsis from Good Reads:
Danny Dragonbreath and his best friend Wendell thought the hot dog from the school cafeteria looked a little . . . off. Then things got weird when the hot dog bit Wendell, and weirder still when Wendell started to sprout back hair. Could Wendell be morphing into a . . . (cue ominous music) were-wiener? All evidence points to yes. And unless he and Danny can get past the lunch ladies and slay the alpha-wurst, the whole school could be infected.
Max Kept Reading Because: At the beginning it showed Danny's best friend Wendell getting bit by a hot dog and I wanted to see what happened to him!
What Max Liked (& Didn't): I liked that when Wendell got bit by the hot dog he started tranforming into a were-weiner during a full moon if he looked at it.
The whole book was Danny and Wendell trying to find a cure to stop the transforming from happening.
I like the Dragonbreath books because Danny and Wendell always get into mischeif. In the first book they get attacked by a giant squid, and in the second one they get attacked by Ninja Frogs.
I like how there are a lot of funny pictures and I really like that there are comics spreda out through the book. There is a bunch of reading and a bunch of pictures.
Not only does Wendell get bit but most of the school, including the teachers, get infected!
To Sum Up: Danny and Wendell make me laugh and there was a good mystery for them to solve!
Scott has one of the Dragonbreath books, and he really likes them too. Great review again, Max! Maybe your mom should hire you part-time! LOL. :-)
ReplyDeleteHe LOVES doing blog work! I hope to get Big Nate done for tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteGreat job Max! These books look great. Especially the Were-wiener. I might have to add that series to Santa's stocking stuffer list for my daughter.
ReplyDeleteThanks Max! I'll be looking for a copy for a nephew I know!
