Blogging & Reading Goals 2011

I am adding this post to Parajunkee's Follow Friday! Her question this week was about blogging/reading goals for 2011. I haven;t done a follow Friday through Parajunkee though I enjoy her blog a lot. So, if you are new to my blog, WELCOME! Leave me a comment and your link and I will add you to my list of blogs I follow. Thanks for stopping by!

In 2004 I made it a goal to read one book a week. This was after I started working full time (teaching kindergarten) and I still had one child in daycare. I was reading mostly adult books with a few MG and YA thrown in because I love them so much. It was also the first time I kept a list of what I read. I read 65 books that year. Every year since then I try to increase from the last year: 2005: 75, 2006: 54 (fail), 2007: 80, 2008: 72, 2009: 112, 2010: 114. I am increasing and that is awesome, so in terms of reading I am not going to give myself a certain number goal, I am just going to keep reading.

I am going to keep scheduling my blog posts. I was doing a great job (until December) of posting every week day, so that will continue to be my goal.

I am going to comment on other people's blogs more! I am so bad at that and I am really going to improve. This is a big one for me, a little out of my comfort zone!

I am going to read what I feel like and not try to have any "assigned" reads. I don't like feeling like I have to read a book--that's not comfort reading!

I am going to keep promoting books--here, at my school and to my friends.

I am going to enjoy having a book blog, no matter where it takes me!

What are your goals and ideas for 2011?

  5. I'm going to keep "checking in" w/ my morning coffee because it's my comfort time while the house is quiet. My kids may not be old enough for these books yet, but it gives me food for thought and time to think about what's ahead and ideas. I love your blog and I love to follow it! Thank you so much for having it. It gives me a few minutes of my own time to gather ideas about good reads! Good luck on your resolutions and have a great new years eve.

  8. I'm a new follower and I agree with your assigned reading resolution. If someone or even myself says that I HAVE to read something then it is almost a promise that I won't.

Feel free to stop by my Resoultion post :)

  9. I'm a new follower :)

I would have to agree with your goals. I hate reading books that I have to read, it takes all the fun out of it.

  10. My answer (from the hop)-- Mine is to read around 200 books, network some more, try to go to author signings and to keep having fun. I would also like to find a local ya addict to trade books with. (I am in Raleigh NC- so speak up if you wanna be my buddy)I am hopping by from Follow Friday. I am following you and would love it if you follow me back! Brandi from Blkosiner’s Book Blog
