Review: Ditched by Robin Mellom

3 iced ginger cookies.

Cover Love:
Yes. This cover gives me a good image of Justina in my head and since the dress is such a major part of the story it was good to have a visual of that.

Why I Wanted to Read This:
I have a love of light, fun contemporary romances. This fit the bill! Here's the synopsis from Good Reads:

High school senior Justina Griffith was never the girl who dreamed of going to prom. Designer dresses and strappy heels? Not her thing. So she never expected her best friend, Ian Clark, to ask her.

Ian, who always passed her the baseball bat handle first.

Ian, who knew exactly when she needed red licorice.

Ian, who promised her the most amazing night at prom.

And then ditched her.

Now, as the sun rises over her small town, and with only the help of some opinionated ladies at the 7-Eleven, Justina must piece together — stain by stain on her thrift-store dress — exactly how she ended up dateless. A three-legged Chihuahua was involved. Along with a demolition derby-ready Cadillac. And there was that incident at the tattoo parlor. Plus the flying leap from Brian Sontag's moving car...

But to get the whole story, Justina will have to face the boy who ditched her. And discover if losing out at prom can ultimately lead to true love.

I Kept Reading Because:
It was fun reading Justina's recount of the night. Easy and enjoyable to read!

Romance?: Yes!

What I Liked (& Didn't):
Justina's description of Ian made me totally fall in love with him. He seems like exactly the guy I would've wanted for my high school boyfriend.

I haven't been to prom in way to many years. In my time, everyone dyed their shoes to match their dress. It was fun to read what proms are like nowadays.

My one issue with this book was Justina. She was a bundle of contradictions. I couldn't get a grasp on her true personality. She seemed to have a good head on her shoulders and much is made of her organization skills early on in the book. But she jumps to every bad conclusion with anything dealing with Ian. She never gives him a chance to explain and she runs away all the time. It bothers me that she had so little trust and faith in Ian, especially after telling us all the great things he did for her.

Even though Justina seemed a little off, the people she encountered during the night gave her good advice, she just failed to act on it. I especially liked Fritz' advice, go to the source.

I loved the Stoner Mikes and Bliss and Serenity.

I loved that Justina ended up spilling her story to two grown women, each with their own perspective and advice. Mostly though, they just listened to Justina's tale.

To Sum Up: Even though I didn't love Justina, she also didn't drive me nuts. This was a fun book to read!

Ebook from NetGalley and Disney! Thanks!
