Audiobook Review:
First of all you have to understand my deep adoration for Rot & Ruin. I read and reviewed it last fall on my blog, which you can read here. In a nutshell, it was probably my favorite book in 2010.
As often happens when I really love a book I wanted to share it with my family. Alas, I don't have a family of readers at my disposal. One way I get around this is with the use of audiobooks. We take at least one long driving trip a year, mostly because my husband's family lives 10 hours away, so I always plan for an audiobook on that trip. This summer, I planned for us to listen to Rot & Ruin.
What a well done audiobook! The narrator, Brian Hutchison, was one I hadn't heard before. He has a real down-home, folksy type voice. It fits the tone of this book perfectly. Because the voice is more grown up than Benny's would be, I kind of imagined him as Tom. Because I LOVE Tom.
Even though Brian's voice was smooth, and accessible, I felt there could have been more emotion during certain scenes. However, I was going by how I read the book when my brain was sometimes screaming the words. I asked my son how he enjoyed the audiobook and he said he loved it and that Rot & Ruin is one of his favorite books now.
You know what that means...he will be more willing to read Dust & Decay!! Another successful audiobook adventure!
I'd love to listen to this book just because it would be inters testing to hear it out loud. Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)
