Tween Tuesday: The Red Pyramid

Can I write a Tween Tuesday post about a book that hasn't even been released yet? I don't care because I am going to, next week at this time I will be driving to Borders to buy two copies--a personal one and one for my library. I do not often buy new releases because I am pretty selective about what goes into my personal library. I always check my public library first and for about a month after the release. Sometimes I am lucky and it is in the catalog and available to be put on hold before it is released, but mostly (because I am always looking at young adult and middle grade books) they are not available right away. After awhile, if the book I want is still not available and it is getting good reviews, I will break down and buy it. Rick Riordan is one of my exceptions. I buy his, first day out.

I have been excited about this book since last fall when it was announced. First of all, the Percy Jackson books were so awesome. All of them. I love when an adult author really finds his groove with children's lit. I didn't read any of Rick Riordan's adult books, but he sure seems to love writing for kids. Secondly, the main character's name is Carter and so is my oldest son's. Lastly, it takes on Egyptian mythology. I KNOW this book will be a big success and will be another great journey for middle grade readers. I am getting everything I am reading wound up so that next Tuesday, all I have to do is crack that spine and get started!

  2. Maybe you have already done this?? But I pre-ordered it last week on Borders.com, and it was 42% off cover of $17.99. So I got it for $10.52, I ordered a total of $+25 so I got FREE Shipping. But I am having it delivered to the Local store. So "hopefully" (Fingers crossed) I can just go in as well next week, Tuesday and pick it up... We'll see.

  3. It's been my experience with Borders that they normally have some of the bigger releases on a very good sale (30-40%) when they are released even if you don't pre-order. I don't want to take the chance of not getting it on the first day so I am just going up there at lunch!

  4. I pre-ordered this one. Wyatt and I are already arguing about who gets it first - not that it isn't obvious who wins. The little turkey! :-)
